Breaking Bread is a restaurant in Miami, Florida, designed around the ceremonial act of sharing food, culture, and conversation. Inspired by the traditions of bread-making and communal dining, the project reimagines hospitality as a ritual of gathering, where warmth, light, and materiality draw people toward a shared center. At its heart, a communal hearth transforms dining into an experience of connection, exchange, and collective nourishment.

THE COMMUNAL
HEARTH
GATHERED AROUND WHAT NOURISHES US
At the heart of Breaking Bread is the communal hearth, a social anchor and ceremonial center. It draws people in, invites exchange, and transforms dining into a shared ritual.
More than a bar, the Hearth is a place of warmth, presence, and hospitality, a modern interpretation of the ancient fire where food, stories, and community come together.

A local artisan and community builder whose passion for bread-making and hospitality celebrates the beauty of simple ingredients and the power of bringing people together.
ARCHITECTURE OF
RITUAL
THE NAVE
Inspired by the Sikh tradition of langar, the nave forms the central dining axis of Breaking Bread. Long communal tables extend along either side of the hearth, creating a shared space where guests gather around food as equals. The arrangement transforms the center of the restaurant into a place of procession, connection, and collective experience.
